Brisbane Wants More Air Traffic over Amberley Base.

This Mornings Brisbane Times is running a Lead Story that the Defence Department is being lobbied to increase commercial air traffic over Amberley to relieve noise in Brisbane.
We all moved here fully knowing we were living adjacent to a military base, and railway line and that came with the territory with our decision.
It seems the Brisbane Latte set people feel their world is different.
Ipswich people accept the fact air traffic is totally different to commercial and if our defence forces have to launch or accept late arrivals anytime yes anytime it’s the price we pay for our choices.
Just imagine in todays times of world instability we could not get a launched because we have the commercial flitting about because of someone in Brisbane can’t hear their TV.
At no stage in this article we’re our opinion on the increase in our noise even considered , let alone our nations Defence capabilities.
Brisbane has the full access to the sea where they can stack and manage their airspace and stacking aircraft over a military base is Ludicrous to say the least.
Thagoona Straightaway Puts Us on Notice.

On the weekend of the 15 &16th October our neighbourhood witnessed 3 crashes in under 24 hours within a kilometre of each other.
To my knowledge no lives were lost but lives were endangered and allocating blame is not my gig but I think we all have seen some utter stupidity occurring on this strip and to be honest in my time we have been extremely lucky not to have more frequent incidents.
Impatience and speed, Bozo Boys and Numptys with their toys, all getting their jollies acting out their fantasies at the risk of everyday people just wanting to get on with their daily life in safety.
When entering the 100 KPH road from a standing start takes a bit of calculation and miscalculation can be deadly and looking both ways to avoid a head on entering is critical. My experience was nearly that when a couple of motor cyclists were playing Willowbank and clocking speeds over 200kph nearly ended up in my back seat when I miscalculated entering from Girral while they were drag racing. Silly me as they passed me like I was parked while actually doing The Limit.
That behaviour went on for months , so I do think it’s time we have a occasional radar and surveillance camera monitor units in the area and I’m sure advice from the locals on locations will be forthcoming willingly.
Just a thought and your feedback would be interesting then we could take it up with the relevant authorities if supported.
PS.. I am still a massive rev head, love the cars, bikes and trucks parades every day but seeing the emergency service units at work so close to our homes is very confronting and needs some attention.

Pothole Patrol

Our carriageways are coming under a lot of criticism of late and major works in some streets will get a facelift , for how long it will last depends on the soil it is based on.
Council is experimenting with different surfaces, recyclable materials and processes and I cannot think of a better place to test a product than on our streets.
We have hostile active soils ,extreme conditions, all easly monitored with traffic variants.
If this was considered our roads will have the attention of the boffins constantly ,plus possible experimental funding outside council.
It has its plusses I feel and worth exploring,
What DO You Think???
Should WE lobby our Councillors and Mayor?? (Comment Below)
History Grab.

In April 1951 E.Bell and E. Bennett , residents of Rosewood moved the Moreton Shire Council write a letter of protest to the Minister of Mines to cease the coal mining companies mining under Rosewood as it was against the interests of the town.
Further correspondence in July and December failed to get a response and mining continued. Such was the efforts of concerned residents then ..
Those mines are still there and I can recall vividly one early morning hit off at Rosewood Golf Club coming across a massive sink hole on the 8th hole which took many truckloads of overburden to fill. The shafts and pillars were exposed and rivers of water running through the seams.
Telling this to Leo Green he just laughed and told me my house at Thagoona and many more possibly undermined as mapping of the mines was non existent as they just followed the seam.
His follow up tale that two different mining companies in the Bluffs region shafts met one morning when they broke through into each other’s mine both teams on the same seam. The miners had smoko and a chuckle.
Before we settled 83 we visited the mining warden and was assured about 85% of Ipswich was undermined and its still here. Showed him our block and after consulting his maps laughed and said maybe you should not build high set brick. Advice taken, appreciated, and correct.

TECH CORNER

I know how health conscious we at Thagoona are and even if you not and have some health issues may I suggest you consider wearing a health monitoring watch.
Being a Apple convert the 7 and now 8 versions are absolutely brilliant technology if keeping a eye on yourself is important.
Heart Beat, Resting, Variability, Blood Oxygen, Sound Levels, Stair up and down, but the most important is the Fall Alert/ Impact if you hit the dirt and can’t get up.
It kicks in, asks you if you fell, and if no response goes into emergency after a series of processes to ascertain your condition. GPS location and Emergency call generated, although I cannot verify as I have not tested the full kit but it’s their on your wrist without having to find your phone.
Accompanying Apps are really mind blowing and a must for those who are self monitoring data freaks.
The tools are not exact as those from the medical profession but they do give you a solid indication on where your body is at ,and fun for those who love the technology challenge.
And yes, you’ll need a Apple Phone to pair it in and keep you updated.
