I’m back, a bit battered from overindulging and all that goes with the holiday season.
Our neighbourhood like all has had its ups and downs but the essence of our community is being there if needed then seeing Santa in his Fire Truck do his rounds Christmas Eve and the kids faces waiting real brings is all back to basics. We are so fortunate to have that here and the people who give their time deserve accolades delivering something the kids in the city boxes miss out on.

Now down to business. I am having issues getting factual information ie. civil development plans, even promotional spin on developments Dances Road, Pindari Drive areas as it’s very important that the community’s in the lower sides in smaller average blocks will get the water at a much faster rate, compounding the existing flood issues not yet addressed.
BREAKING… NEW SHOPPING CENTRE PLANNED
The above Application just appeared as per notification site. All well and good building a new shopping complex BUT without upgrading and adjusting EXISTING infrastructure and NOT releasing flood mitigation and civil engineering, water Hydrology in accompaniment indicates in my view Council is going along with the developer and possibly relying on the developer to do the infrastructure. If that is the case public scrutiny is reduced when private contractors are involved or we trust the council to look after us ……. Yeah Right..

Being a failed candidate Twice “Der” even though you don’t win you learn how the system and the culture of politics works.
Be aware the old warhorses are already campaigning,conditioning you to lean their way. Nothing wrong with that but be aware what the game is, and I’m a great believer having new blood, ideas are the way to go. 2 terms max and you stand down as I don’t believe local government councillors is a profession and we should be encouraging secession planning not holding on to power and salaries at all costs.
History tells us the more time a council is unchanged the more chance for it to be misused against its constituency..

Are You a Wine Enthusiast?
Not many people take much notice about national politics, however you could not miss the situation that China stopped importing Australian Wine.
Well that certainly sent the industry into a search for new sales and the result was we, us Aussies get some great wines they can’t shift to overseas clients.
Those top class wines will not be sold under the high priced labels but will sell exactly the same product under a different label to clear floor stock.. and much cheaper… Bonus. time for the astute taster..
The wine above is one of those labels I’ve found that they are shifting stock but be warned not all blends are top shelf but this one is ….
Wine is a great hobby, I call it a hobby anyway to keep the missus quiet.. 🤣🤣
Nature’s Way
If you haven’t seen our ant population climbing in the past week or so your lucky.
Us old farts put a fair bit of value on what the ant population tells us about the upcoming weather and if they are true to form we are in for some really big water on t(e way…
Scoff you might but they’ve been here longer than us and since moving here the signs are clear , the Sugar Ants heap and the Black Ants climb, so be warned and get those Woo Boys in place to divert the run off.
And here’s a thought, when’s the last cyclone that has got down this far?

When the Kids Go Travelling
It’s not uncommon to have our furry kids go wandering in our neighbourhood. That occurred in my space this week and I was able to get their attention and affection used the social media to try to locate their parents. In my case the job was made even easier with the help of our Rosewood Vet Service when they offered to check the micro chipping and then even housed the rascals until mum and dad arrived.
For me this was the second visit within 2 hours as I had my kid in for a check earlier.
I cannot speak more highly for the local girls who we trust with our kids and the importance of having your furry friend microchipped and registered especially if a emergency occurs.
Sport .. Football Yes Football …
You may not like it but the Football World Cup Qatar was the best ever according to the participants.
The media went out of its way pre start to discredit the event with absolutely ridiculous stories and exaggerated claims of loss of lives later totally discredited when fact checks done.
In “Australian terms”we performed well but after all the hype we ,in reality were just out of our class.
A lifetime playing, following ,coaching, managing and now watching the world game I was pleased we got to the big gig but we always knew the fairytale would end badly.
I could into the technicalities but this is not the place but what I will say seeing our kids, boys and girls loving the game and expanding their knowledge outside the national coastline setting standards the present administration needs to rise to
Savage assessment some might think, but to get to be the best you have to be professional without any nepotism, engage with successful World Cup winning overseas Football cultures , something Aussies struggle with in not only football but across other sporting spectrums as well..
