After the article published in The Moreton Border News this week I feel some history of development visions have gone unmentioned and yes I’ve been here since 83.
When Thagoona station was established in its present form it was envisaged town house development around the station and a Woolworths accompanying, but that was before the great visionary councillors decided Springfield was the place to pump our rates money.
Lanefield was the new Ipswich satellite but it crashed before take off trumped by the Springfield lobbyists.
It’s a interesting stance by our present councillors about developers having the lead and the residents have to justify their existence to retain their lifestyle, especially when the only services we have are very basic, unsealed roads no kerb and channeling and extremely dodgy flood mitigation now, and a expectation for us to trust in the town planners.
Personally I’m not against development but history has not been treated well in this area. The Coal loading station above the golf club was demolished in overnight stealth act and the entire destruction of trees and foliage bulldozed chained on the paddocks earmarked by this development through the the Seventh Day Church all done with little of no action from Council.
Too bad so sad was their attitude, then buck passing blame.
The Great Thagoona Wall of Wonderland and continuing flooding of the properties behind it give me no confidence any hydrology reports presented by this administration and I would demand more than one “OPINION” or “ASSUMPTION” before any Hi-Vis public officials turn up with their silver shovels and photo shoots.
