Oh “Yes” the Network Crashed Again

Firstly ( disclosure) I was a PMG, Telecom, Telstra employee for 20 years with a bit of a knowledge on network.

So you got burnt with Optus melting down again.
“YES” you forgot about it melting down 17minutes into the opening of the World Cup 2018 but it didn’t worry you then if you weren’t a football fan in Australia, and “YES” it melted again this time on normal load….

So you think your getting a better deal with a company who is using the discarded Telstra network handed to Optus and it seems they are taking the profit but not doing the upgrade or keeping with the traffic.

Optus are not tho only ones living off the network Telstra provided BEFORE privatisation they All bloody are, and the shareholders are loving it.

Alls good until it hits the fan and I will not bullshit you on Telstra’s performance either. They have dropped the ball since privatisation and customer service has degraded I estimate 50% of what it was in my time, but with even saying that their network is still far superior than competitors in Australia.

So with all that said, we need communication on this island to be the best we possibly can and by having the ridiculous policy of privatisation of communications has made us less safe by dropping the standards PMG, Telecom and Old Telstra had to comply with, being network security, supply of service and quality of service, customer service obligations, and restoration and upgrade benchmarks enforced with venom by some managers.

The public perception of Telstra is mixed today but in past times people were more patient and understanding in the copper network supply, however with mobile expectations are higher, but nothing changes when the network goes into outages, but the customers never look at their decision they made when they chose the cheaper options… like buying a second hand car with a free bumper bar..

Bottom line is will we take this train crash from Optus as a tipping point to review our nations overall communication and make a decision on it and Reinstate Communication as a Essential Service and regulate heavily , OR you accept the your service or no service as the normal because that’s what the shareholders of all the companies love.. your the suckers guys unless we demand change and it might cost you a bit more to recover the past but how much do you want to risk your online businesses as the hackers get smarter?

We need to get in front of the curve and this incident should make you think outside your wallet or you’ll loose it.

End The Grump an ex Baggy arsed Liney.
