It takes a bit of a kafuffell and a bun fight to work out where your supporters are or who you can have a honest yarn without the spin.
When people put their hand up to run for public office they do it for one of two reasons.
TYPE 1/ To try and correct or make a difference to how the people are served and ensure they are treated with respect, regardless of what side of politics and to try to get a fair and just outcomes according to the legislation, and boundaries of public office.
TYPE 2/ To be a career politician and the role treated as a job, and you do as much as you can to keep the fires under control, go through the motions, play the games and keep you head in the lenses so the facade is not questioned.“The Look at Me Breed”is easily identified.. usually Narcissistic symptoms..
The average punter struggles at times to identify the types , but if you hang around long enough for the to bells to ring, the fair dinkum ones will make themselves obvious BUT once in office then comes real test of credibility and ethical standards..
Politics is a savage, brutal, and ruthless profession where rarely you have “friends”,you have acquaintances where allegiance is never guaranteed, and based on self preservation.
This applies on every level of government at different levels of ferocity.
With that said it’s not often, I can say “this one cut the mustard,” but retiring Kate Kuzzleman joined my list fair dinkum Type 1 ers ..
Once we broke the ice, we could get down to core issues with just plain speaking, no offence of any directness of debate and respect for each other’s roles and concerns , we set about trying to get the best outcome’s keeping in mind concessions from both we’re inevitable.
A Typical (Type1) is Kate , and I make the point I was and am not a self appointed community leader, I’m just a punter who speaks his mind as I am here, and will continue to do.
I urge all punters to take the time to highly scrutinise all candidates in the upcoming election, don’t rely on social media, or someone else’s opinion to lead you to the cattle crush.
Use you electronics and email the candidates with your concerns ,text or better still ring and meet them in the flesh so you can make a intelligent decision based on your community needs..
The old cliche is In elections, is You Get Exactly What You Deserve so don’t whinge if a Type2 is elected if you haven’t done your bit to stop it.
So Thanks Kate, you did a great job that was highly scrutinised after the corruption council of the past, and you did it with class and integrity and you leave a benchmark we can rate the new incumbents by ..
