The New P Platers have arrived in Div. 4

Well its all done and dusted and we punters in Division 4 have been delivered two cleanskins in the Ipswich City Council and as far as we residents are concerned the reeducation process will begin as we will have to revisit all the issues we won and lost with the last former participants.

During the campaign I/WE took great interest in how the prospective candidates positioned themselves on the critical issues in our lives like Development , Flooding, Infrastructure, Environment , Lifestyle the things that count in our day to day lives and to be quite honest those priorities did not seem high on the newbies list down at the grass root level.

To be fair much broader issues like debt, and fairer fund distribution were raised and that’s fine but the really concerning thing was the quote “Im all for Development” should ring every bell in every house in the areas that will be impacted by New development.

In many cases via the Councils Submission process residents established a firm understanding of how any developments would be handled and lines of communication were established and I expect those agreements will be honoured in full without any deviation.

We have to be clear firstly, and patient, and let them get their P plates but one thing is certain in Division 4 is a hotbed, particularly the Rosewood Thagoona Walloon corridor and we have a extensive network of long term residents who actually created the place and we look forward to a great but fiery at times working relationship as we did with the former incumbants and lets hope our new ones just didn’t ride in on the donkey vote.
