It was the best result we could have asked for when the Mt Marrow Transfer Station was withdrawn from the list and it made a statement about what we the residents will accept or tolerate in our neighbourhoods.
Often we see the keyboard kings and queens procrastinate online but the Mt Marrow issue, the Girral Road issue and the Adelong Avenue issue show people will stand up and make a statement and shake the cages of the bureaucrats and the developers and hang on like a cattle dog with a rope.
It’s a statement of culture that is sadly lacking in our society, people prepared to walk the walk not just whinge and wale and walk away but its not just a one off thing, and when you are in a neighbourhood that is earmarked for major development, our vigilance in the caring for our lifestyle and wildlife is a ongoing commitment .
To its credit Council has acknowledged the people in Thagoona with the go ahead of the Banyula Road Reserve Bushcare Group after residents realised it was in imminent danger from developers taking excavators to the entire area as part of a sewerage line and processing plant.
Maintaining the natural fauna area and protecting the existing wildlife is a commitment some volunteers are up for and any help would be greatly appreciated … See Below.

In saying all of the above another issue has been bought to my attention is a DEVELOPMENT ON RAILWAY STREET AND HOSPITAL ROAD
The standard of this development honestly does not pass any pub test including the Royal George
No Playgrounds or recreation areas, no car parking arrangements REALLY?????
How did this application get a tick ???
This is a classic example open how poorly design can slide through the system unnoticed until the dying hours of the approval process..
Yes I’m as guilty because it was not in my patch but if we allow poor developments progress we set a benchmark for developments that will eventually commence in our own areas .
The Standard we Walk Past is The Standard we Accept fits this situation and although submissions are closing imminently council planners and the broader council need to know this is not standard we want in our area.
Councillor Madden I’m told is not a happy chappie on his discovery on this and needs support on the floor of Council. See Below ..
PS.. I hope a full investigation has been carried out on this property as it does have some historic elements on site I’m told by some long standing residents..

Cheers
The Girral Grump.
