It didn’t take much to realise after watching the Council Meeting that decided to send us to the polls the amount of animosity and distain there was between the actors on the floor of council.
The trivial game of oneupmanship was comparable to kids in a sandpit fighting over a toy rather than a highly paid public servant we the electors expect from our appointees and our governance.
After the clean out of the corrupt and incompetent, we the punters were entitled to think a mature and professional behaviour from ALL of our councillors including THE MAYOR but NO the political bun fights have begun, and as a result the opponents are lining up their “preferred candidates” THEY feel will swing the numbers their way.
Its NOT THEIR CHOICE ITS OURS.
Now Lets Cut to the chase here and Call it.
As a resident of Division 4 I want a councillor the LIVES IN MY ELECTORATE NOT A BLOW IN SELECTED BY THE BOYS CLUB.
We have one councillor that lives outside now and its not a hard ask and lets have one who comes without baggage,** one who will stand their ground and not be intimidated by the political thugs and their tantrums on and off the floor.
I will bang on again about BALANCE by having both male and female representation is vital to the democratic process, for two reasons, one being the the natural human interaction ease for female to female communication when their point of view can be overlooked or overridden, and two, the existing BOYS CLUB that is emerging, or we let emerge on the council floor
They say you get exactly what you deserve when it comes to elections, and I feel WE THE PEOPLE deserve a candidate and potential councillor that fits our electorate, lives and breathes our daily lives on the ground and on our patchwork streets, not candidates struggling for self ego injections propped up by their shadowy conspirators.
SO if you fit the fresh start criteria, if you are tired of being a led into the cattle crush put your hand up or support a candidate that will make a difference… its worth the ride I can assure you from experience, you learn so much..
