Well about a week out from the starter’s call and driving around the place you can’t miss the sea of corflutes that have sprouted like Fire Weed.

Putting the State Election combatants aside who are all supported by their parties, it’s more than obvious who’s more than cashed up in the Local Government race.

Yep, as a 2 time looser I know exactly how much it costs if you put your hand up and reject any baggage to carry into office by accepting donations in Local Government Race and it’s tough, and yes my first failure was with the Alp but I was never a threat as in my experience major party politics in Local Government turn the punters away which was proven in my case overwhelmingly.

The costs of putting you hand up because you care and if your self funded is steep, and your reliance on word of mouth and the people’s sense of LOCAL LOGIC is critical , against bold advertising flooding the footpaths and local rags with bombarding slogans and headshots all wanting your Number One.

However the real test is when the rubber hits the road and does the punter choose the fools gold or the real deal without the baggage or former alliances and deals done.

Anyway You know the drill and you are smart enough to pick the pearl from the marble and I’m sure having a genuine local in your/our neighbourhood must be a plus for all of us in a large Division of various demographics and issues.

The Grump is not walking away from the underdog at the bottom of the voting slip who hangs on like that red cattle dog.
