Thagoona Residents Put Councillors and Council on Notice.

The meeting at the Walloon CWA has put our Councillors and Council on notice that the people of Thagoona will not be brushed off anymore by any spiels as we have heard it all before for decades.

I fully admire the commitment of the Brett the council employee who was delegated the role explaining the logic they based their and the developers assumptions although that information is flawed in actuality terms.

Many are Assumption’s not facts as we who have lived it know, and we the people will stand by those facts, the facts we have delivered and have been ignored by successive administrations although I will give credit to our previous 2 councillors who could see the our plight on Girral and how that impacted on Adelong and The Funnel after some very very hard talk.

That knowledge momentum is lost entirely on our present Council representation as displayed at the Thagoona Washout Meeting last night.

The simple facts are we have to get those submissions in or we are barking at clouds and please remember they count individual submissions and joint submission regardless of who signs off is only ONE submission don’t be fooled, and if their are two or more in the household they are entitled to submit, ie husband, wife or partner or someone under the same roof.

If you file a submission and you remember something you forgot you can submit a supplementary to the first submission… we need that 50 to shake the tree harder.

I will be pleasantly surprised if the developer fronts people, so we have to keep the pressure on our councillors and ensure all our conditions are guaranteed when they go to the vote and we’ll see if they truly represent us or the developer, and I look forward to the proposed “new funding”to investigate and confirm our hard evidence, and I’ll restate my position that I’m not against development but I want development that is not detrimental to the existing people and environment within reason.

That’s not a hard ask, and keeping water out people’s,homes should not be a hard ask for all Ipswich ratepayers, but not all Ipswich ratepayers have had no curb and channeling, no road surface upgrades for 40 years.

Yes this is Division 4 and although we have some voters on the bitumen, us on the black soil deserve the same respect and service, but may not get the same social media clicks to keep up “look at me” profiles and fan clubs.

We’re not going away at Thagoona.

The Grump.
