Time to Get that Submission Drafted.

You’ve just lived the event and you have the evidence to show we do have a flood issue in the Thagoona Catchment and it’s undeniable, but we’ve all done this before haven’t we?

Probably 5 or 6 times even more for the long termees and now be prepared for the mandatory brush off with the spiels like :

1/ This is just a normal weather event and we’ll look at it.
2/ YES we’ll fix it in the next budget..
3/ Don’t worry the water issue will addressed when we build the ??? Trust me and the design engineering , they said it’ll work and forget the history, and your local knowledge it’s irrelevant…

Yep wait for it the replay button will be pressed and we are suppose to just suck it up.

Speaking for myself here I’m NOT against development but I’m against unsustainable developments using the develop first then build the infrastructure to suit as we go.. That’s Not Intelligent Civil Construction.

The model of developer driven infrastructure allows the developer to deliver infrastructure as you go but fails to address the existing failures of design before the new development impacts..

This model is playing out on the Lower Thagoona development and the Girral Road development and all roads and water lead to Adelong Avenue precinct with no infrastructure other than a new bridge with a 2 metre high water gauge planted on its highest point.

Anyway you’ve heard this all before but I urge you put in a submission and air your concerns as this development is only the front end of what is to come behind with the expanding developments all on the high ground backing up the mountain towards The Bluff and Mt Marrow.
Yes water runs down hill and faster off roads and roofs and if you think your property is high enough consider the water not being able to get away as fast and backs up.

The alarm bells must be ringing surely as the only exit for the water is the hole in the railway wall

We need over 50 submissions to take the decision away from Council and put it in the hands of an independent commission to assess your concerns and investigate deeper history.

Follow this link and explain the facts, yes facts are vitally important not assumptions and don’t be overwhelmed just use your own words to explain your concerns and you can contact me at the bottom of this blog in the comments if you need a yarn..
