A Candid View @ Division4 #1

Well their all in the Show Ring about to come on to the track, amber light flashing being led out by their trainers on the way to the starting box.

In the Red Rug in the Number One box is David Martin

Number Two in the Blue Rug is Russell Milligan

And in the Pink Rug right out in the Number 8 box is Sue Dunne.

And that’s the field as we go to press so far so let’s look at the form of these runners whole the make their way down the track to the boxes.

The Boys Club favourite is David Martin, in the red rug, the reason we all are going to the polls as they do not want Milligan which was made quite obvious to any punter who follows the form.
Martin a true wanna be, consistently thumped as a Mayoral Candidate now trying his hand at the lower pay rate outside his own electorate.
To his credit he goes to the opening of any fridge he can in Ipswich to lift the profile.
Around my world the word “Blow In” is common or the willing opportunist trying to find a seat, any seat..

Now the second favourite in the blue rug is Milligan a second time runner who’s form was not too bad on the ground along side of Kate his side kick, however he was the Mayors Choice and pushed up the pay grade to Vice Mayor which was not surprising as he and the Mayor run on a joint ticket the first time around for the election of the new format..
Reestablishing of that unity ticket baggage on the council floor in the current council would change little in the numbers game but would add a ally to a Mayor under stress raising the political gamesmanship of which she is a strong participant and openly campaigning on the ratepayer for the LNP State election.

Now brings me to the Pink Rug, a rank outsider in the 8 box, a Four time starter who lives the life we all do, with no political baggage as such other than being a self declared Alp member as me.

This grass roots candidate is not part of any rot playing out in the peoples tower in the Mall. A solid dedicated woman, working every day to survive, then spending every spare minute out on the track getting to know you and your priorities.

No, this is not her first rodeo. She has been whacked and getting up again as she feels she can make a genuine difference to a council that seems to be on the track of the old sacked discredited council, with the very similar cast of runners.

If you want a Councillor that will work all day and hang on like a red cattle dog when she gets issue to drive, and calls it as it is , she’s your girl.

You may think I have a bias and I do with this Local Election as I want to work with a councillor who knows what it’s like to live in my every day world, have the concerns about the new developments, our existing wildlife and environment, and the issues like local flooding of my neighbours houses.

Keeping community values is not a throw away line. It needs full time attention from all of us and we need people we can turn to with confidence who will fight against the flow when needed.

I’ll back the Red Dog.

The Grump..
